Well, our Christmas decorations are stored and the presents put away for the most part. We had a wonderful Christmas with our family. A group of my girlfriends got together this week to catch up. Someone brought up that each year it doesn’t really feel like Christmas. That magic we all remember as kids just isn’t there like it used to be. Its easy for me to get caught up in one of my favorite things: making & giving gifts. Each year Dave and I come to realize it’s not about the presents, parties and Christmas movies (I like those, don’t get me wrong). It’s about celebrating the humble birth of our savior Jesus Christ.
I got a little crazy making gifts this year. I always tend to think projects will take a lot less time than they actually do….Thanks to my loving husband helping me everything got done. My favorite two projects were taking a pallet and making it into a fun photo display (thanks Dave for making the silhouettes and painting all of the frames) and making rag dolls that look like our 4 nieces (which would have been bald without Dave helping me!)
A few weeks ago Kelly contacted me about photographing her dog. She and her husband just found out their 5 year old Golden Retriever has cancer. It was my honor to capture the lovable and fun-loving personality of Marley. Dogs make such an impact on their owner’s lives. The hardest thing is how short the time is we have with them. Here are a few of my favorite images.
Miss Maddie turned 4 in March. Dave and I have started a new tradition where we take each niece out to a fun place to eat and then to a used book store for their birthday date. We had a blast with Maddie at the Paris Soda Shop in Niles and later at Better World Books. We love you Maddie!
Dave and I had the pleasure of attending Max’s first birthday party and doing a photo session of this great little guy.
Here are a few of my favorite images and a slideshow of them all.
When I was little my mom and aunt started a birthday tradition. On our birthdays we had a birthday date with our aunt, out to eat and then to a bookstore to get a brand new book! Dave and I want to start this with our nieces, and this Saturday we had our first birthday date with Lucy.
She was dressed up like a princess, so uncle Dave wore a jacket & tie for the occasion. First we headed to Cafe 237 in Paw Paw where Lucy had the best chocolate chip pancakes ever, and hot chocolate. Uncle Dave had crab cakes benedict, and I had a spinach & wild mushroom fritatta. YUMBO! Then we finished up at Fat Cat Books where we visited Grimsley the store cat, and loaded up on some great children’s books. We had a great time!
A few weeks ago I had a blast with the King family at Kellogg Forest. We had a beautiful day with lots of sunshine, laughter, and m&m’s. Here are a few of my favorite images and a slideshow of them all. Enjoy!
Our dear friends Aaron & Cassie had their first baby a few weeks ago – Zeke! I had a blast capturing this little guy, here are a few of my favorite images and a slideshow of them all. Enjoy!
Aaron is a huge technology guy - so we had to have Zeke & Dad w/ his laptop & cell phone
