Wilma the Basset Hound

Posted in Pets  by Carrie

A few weeks ago I spent an hour one Saturday afternoon with Wilma the Basset Hound and her mom. Wilma was excited for pictures and was up for whatever I wanted as long as I had a treat on me:) I love the pink color you see because of the droopy skin under her eyes. I brought along a pink feather boah which complemented her coloring perfectly. Here are my favorite images from our time, and a slideshow showing them all. Enjoy!

Bella the Bloodhound

Posted in Pets  by Carrie

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of doing a session with a 13 week old Bloodhound puppy! Bella was a blast, all puppy, full of energy and loving the treats I brought to bribe her with.

Fun facts about bloodhounds:  the wrinkles on their faces, and the way their ears hang low helps them hold the scent when they are tracking.  Bloodhounds are also the only breed that are admissible in a court of law.  Bella’s mom hopes to train her to help with search and rescue missions someday.

Here are a few of my favorite images.

Last weekend I was at Dave’s parents house before we traveled for a baby shower.  Before we left Lucy announced she wanted “L  U   C  Y pancakes.”  Papa made them for her like always, and she demonstrated her cheesy smile to me for the occasion:)

Our Anniversary!

Posted in family, news, Thoughts  by Carrie
Two weeks ago was our first anniversary.  We went to a wonderful bed & breakfast near Michigan City:  Tyron Farms Guest House . We had a great time relaxing, eating out, exploring and just enjoying some time away from the distractions of life.

After one year together this quote by Annie Griffiths Belt sums up my thoughts exactly:

Behind every fortunate woman is someone who believes in her – someone sitting in the bleachers, quietly applauding every success, shouldering each disappointment, waiting in the twilight or the drizzle after everyone else is gone, loving her.  If she is really lucky, that person is her husband.

Love you Dave.

Grape Stomp!

Posted in family, friends  by Carrie
Once a year my two best friends from college and I get together for the annual meeting of “The Chicklets.” We all live in different states, so we rotate location each year.  This year I was the hostess.  It was perfect timing for the Paw Paw Wine & Harvest Festival.  Now I was born and raised in Paw Paw.  But, I’ve never really gone to the festival.  The past few years I’ve wanted to try grape stomping.  Glimpses of Lucy Ricardo with her skirt hiked up and her skin a dark shade of purple came to mind when I was thinking about it. That’s not exactly what the grape stomp turned out to be…. they use white grapes to avoid staining, and its more like getting on your hands and knees to shove grapes towards a metal plate that acts like a cheese grater and then the juice pours out into a bucket.  The team captain (me) then has to weigh the juice.  We didn’t win our round, but the 5 of us has a blast!

The set up... 2 vats compete against each other and stomp grapes for 2 minutes.
